A group of men have been jailed following an investigation that found them guilty off supplying firearms to criminals across the West Midlands.
The accomplices, Shivam Dhillon and his partners Gustav Maco, Cailan Jassal and Hamzah Asif were converting blank firing pistols for organised criminal gangs to use. They were finally caught when officers from the Wolverhampton Priority Crime Team carried out a warrant at Dhillon’s place and arrested him for drug related offenses in July of 2023.
Once there, the Major Crime Unit investigated further and uncovered Dhillon’s work with his accomplice Maco where they converted blank firing pistols and turned them into live firearms.
Upon further investigation the police discovered the two were not alone in this, but rather Jassal and Asif were all connected to the supply chain.
There were photographs uncovered that show members of the gang with these converted guns alongside ammunition and proof of messages that discussed firearms and drugs.
Upon this discovery, all four men were arrested and charged and Dhillon and Asif were convicted on 6th July of this year. Maco was convicted a day later and Jassal was convicted on the 20th of May.
Their sentences were as followed at the Wolverhampton Crown Court:
- Shivam Dhillon was convicted on the conspiracy to sell or transfer prohibited weapons, conspiracy to convert imitation firearms and to supply Class A drugs. He was sentenced to 10 years and 5 months.
